A few years ago I changed the name of my blog from “Go With Gareth” to The Freedom Fighter. I loved the word “Freedom” and wanted something that included it and was catchy. Over the last few months, people close to me have started to tell me that they didn’t think that the “fight” part of my brand was a good representation of what I stood for. I started to think about it a bit more.
In the last year, an area that I’ve become very interested in is the understanding, importance and development of personal brands. Determined not to rush into a rebrand that I’m not certain of, I’ve just allowed this to play out in my life. A few weeks ago I made the decision to rebrand simply as my name. It’s going to take a while as I update my online presence, but I wanted to let you know why The Freedom Fighter is retiring as a brand. It’s done it’s service and served me well over the last few years. “Fighting” just no longer feels like a word that aligns with my personal brand.
As you may know, I am working on a few other ideas and they’ll have names and brands that stand on their own. But for me, well, it’s just me – Gareth Pickering.
